Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to the jungle! - Wednesday

We will meet at the lobby of the Tropical Hotel at 02 p.m and then board on to a boat, drinking a fresh fruit juice and listening to the information about the facilities, while we navigate on the Negro River. After a Snack we should meet in the leisure room, to do some reading about the Amazon Rainforest, that is how we will get a good start on understanding Amazon’s preservation and ecology. After Dinner we will explore little creeks in our canoes and listen to the sounds of nocturnal animals, with the possibility of observing birds, frogs, snakes and caimans.

Day 2: Anavilhanas Park - Thursday

Early in the morning we will explore the surroundings in our canoes, during this exploration we may find birds eating fruits, such as parrots and toucans. After breakfast we will go for a walk in the jungle, where we will discover many surprising fragrances in leaves, fruits, woods and animals. Around midday we will return, and we may go for a swim, before lunch. Later this day, in the afternoon, we will navigate through the Anavilhanas National Park, one of the world’s largest freshwater archipelagos, a labyrinth of waterways. In the late afternoon we will get back in the canoes and may learn more about this wonderful nature park.

Day 3: Native Community - Friday

Today, in the morning, we will spend a little time fishing piranhas and other fish. After breakfast, we should visit a “Native Community” where we will find many of the typical Amazonian fruits like Cupuaçu and Tapereba, palm trees like Açaí, Tucumã and Pupunha. We will learn about the preparation of manioc flour, and the health and education situation of the children. After lunch, we will land on one of the white sandy beaches to swim in the dark water. Then we will go exploring by canoe and scouting for wildlife in the late afternoon. Dinner will be served on the way towards the Amazon River.

Day 4: Meeting of the Waters - Saturday

This morning we will explore the Lago Janauary Ecological Park. This area is usually a very good place to observe wildlife and you have high chances to see the “Victoria Regia”, the giant water lilies. While we have breakfast, we navigate to the “Meeting of the Waters”, the confluence of the world’s two largest rivers, the Amazon and the Negro. After the experience, we return to the Tropical Hotel while we join fine views of Manaus’ waterfront. We should arrive at 11:30 a.m.
