Coastal island, with more than 40,000 km ² of extension, located in the State of Pará; approximately 2 hours of navigation from Belém, capital of the State.  Is the largest fluvio-maritime island on the planet. The annual average temperature revolves around the 26 ⁰C/ 77°F.

Soure: is considered of being the capital of the island, where the tourist will find restaurants, shops and other facilities. The walk through the city reveals the Church of our Lady of Nazareth of the 19th century, the Obelisk built in celebration of 150 years of the independence of Brazil and the Municipal market with modern architecture, where you can enjoy a good “tapioca” covered with cream cheese Marajó.

Buffalo ride: in Brazil the ride astride a Buffalo is part of the fun, since these animals are the symbol of the island. Normally used as taxi and mounted police.

Tour in the farms: for bird watching as the guarás (typical bird with red feathers), alligator spotting, boating by creeks, fishing, or, for sports lovers, you can go hiking in the jungle and rafting.

Beaches - Joanes: 17 km away from Salvaterra, where we find the ruins of a 17th century Jesuit church, a large and pleasant beach with infrastructure, restaurants, bars and nets. Beach - Praia Grande: 500 metres away from the Centre of Salvaterra. Very sunny, exuberant nature, bars, restaurants and music with local rhythms, like the “tecnobrega” and the “carimbó”. Beach - Praia do Pesqueiro : it is the most popular of Soure, where you can enjoy the nice food of Marajó and buy local handcrafts. Beach - Praia de Barra Velha: it’s a quiet beach surrounded by mangroves and ideal for observing the Guarás.
